Assumed Names

An Assumed Name Certificate gives notice to consumers of the identity and location of the owner of a business or a practitioner of a profession that may not otherwise be readily identifiable.  If you plan to do business in Somervell County, you must file an Assumed Name Certificate with the County Clerk’s office.

An applicant may have more than one Assumed Name, and there may be more than one registrant per Assumed Name Certificate.

The Assumed Name Certificate is effective for a maximum of 10 years.

To apply for an Assumed Name Certificate:

Complete the appropriate form below.  Be sure your signature is acknowledged by a Notary Public, and you have included a valid mailing address.  The County Clerk’s office will return the original to you once it has been filed for record.

You may bring the completed form to the County Clerk’s office, pay the $22 fee, and receive a conformed copy immediately.  If you prefer to mail-in the form, please enclose a check or money order for $22 payable to Somervell County Clerk, as well as a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and mail to:
