OUR MISSION
The County Veterans’ Service Office provides a variety of functions for the benefit of our veterans, families, surviving spouses and the community. Our mission is to provide the latest information regarding entitlements and ensure applications are filed through the Veterans Administration and other agencies timely and accurately. We provide courteous experienced counsel to Hood and Somervell County veterans and their families and coordinate with organizations within the Veterans’ community for education, compensation and pension, medical care, insurance, VA loans, Texas Veterans’ benefits, and more. Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Walk ins are always welcome, however we often visit homebound Veterans so we encourage you to call our office first so we can reserve personal time for you. We are located in the same building where the Drivers License office is, right on West Pearl Street.
We are not a part of the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, more commonly known as the “VA”. The County Veterans’ Service Officer is appointed by the County Commissioners Court to serve Hood and Somervell County veterans and their families. We appreciate the opportunity and privilege to serve you.
